Suikoden IV Fun Facts

1) The king of Obel, Lino en Kuldes, is indeed Lazlo's father.

2) Lino en Kuldes also appeared in Suikoden Tactics. He played a vital role by providing Kyril's party several allies who were members of the Island Liberation Army.

3) Although, he is a cunning fighter in the battlefield, yet Lino intentionally lost his duel against Lazlo. He found on him a unique gift of rallying people together on their side.

4) Lino en Kuldes is also a name of a ship commandeered by Admiral Skald Egan in Suikoden V. It is a flagship of the Island Nations Federation Fleet.

5) Island Nations was first mentioned in Suikoden 2. Amada, one of the navy captains in the Allied Army was originally from the Island Nations.

6) In Suikoden 2, Island Nations is sometimes called the "Island Republic" or "Island Countries" from the south.

7) Island Nations is geographically located south of Toran Republic and north of Queendom of Falena.

8) After the Island Liberation War ended, the people formed a single political sovereignty over their diverse territories and called it as the Island Nations Federation.

9) Ted, Jeane and Viki are the only recurring characters who appeared from previous Suikoden games. All three are also seen together in Suikoden I, but Ted was not part of the 108 Stars of Destiny.

10) The events in Suikoden IV is approximately 150 years prior to the events in Suikoden I. Thus, the story is actually a prequel in the series.

11) Ted was probably about 150 years old in Suikoden IV, since he claimed to be more than 300 years old in Suikoden I.

12) Ted is the Tenkan Star among the 108 Stars of Destiny. People who belongs to this title are known to be proficient mages and bear True Runes as well. His counterparts are Luc in the first three Suikoden titles and Zerase in Suikoden V.

13) It is interesting to note that Ted, Luc and Zerase who are Tenkan Stars are all infamous for being unfriendly and reclusive.

14) Junko Kawano is also the artist behind the character designs and illustrations in Suikoden I. She is one of the original members who helped Yoshitaka Muriyama create the Suikoden series.

15) It is interesting to note that all Suikoden protagonists had their True Runes attached on their right hands except for Lazlo. He had the Rune of Punishment embedded on his left hand instead.

16) According to Akaghi, Mizuki is very secretive. Thus, there is not a chance that Lazlo can receive a letter from her throughout the course of the game.

17) It is interesting to note that after Lilan was caught on Shiramine's fish net she is listed as one of the items on his inventory. Strange!

18) According to old pirate legends of old, a woman is nothing but bad luck when aboard the ship. Thus, they don't permit any female crew on a pirate ship. Obviously, this is not the case in Kika's band of seadogs, since the captain herself is a woman.

19) It is an established fact that bows are the weapons of choice of elves in Suikoden series. Nevertheless, Selma and Paula who were elves from Island Nations are more inclined to wield swords than bows.

20) The first elf featured in the series to wield a weapon other than a bow is Nei from Suikoden III.

21) The Nay Village's Chief did agree to lend the aid of his people to the Island Liberation Army, but the only representative he had were the couple, Kevin and Pam. Oddly enough, however, they are not even from Nay Village but from the neighboring island of Iluya.

22) There are five archers who belongs to the 108 Stars of Destiny and all of them participates in Barrage Attack Combo. Nevertheless, it is only Ted who has trio combo with all four others. Lohak and Ted has no combo on each other, as well as Flare and Frederica.

23) Despite his bigger physical stature, Champo is more agile to Chiepoo as seen in battles.

24) Tal is the only fighter among the 108 Stars of Destiny who do some somersaults after launching an attack.

25) After unleashing a normal attack, Jewel usually jumps back to her previous position. This type of action is the common gameplay animation found in both Suikoden I and Suikoden II.

26) Did you know that you can still use the nifty Golden Hand Mirror even when you're still inside the Ship? Use it to teleport instantly to Viki's location at Second Deck Corridor.

27) Kate is the only Star of Destiny who did not utter a single word to answer Keen's questions in the Confession Room.

28) The Holy Kingdom of Harmonia is briefly mentioned in Suikoden IV. It is a land to the far north of Scarlet Moon Empire and considered to be peerless in military might and has the most vast territory in Suikoden world.

29) It is interesting to note that Ted's weapon is named after the durability of wood. In Suikoden I, however, his bows are named after the different types of metal, namely: Steel Bow, Copper Bow and Gold Bow.

30) In Suikoden I, Ted mentioned that he wandered the world for about 300 years. Thus, he is most likely 150 years old when the Island Liberation War broke out.

31) Did you know that Escape Talisman will become almost utterly useless after you recruited Viki? Since you can teleport back to the ship with her Golden Hand Mirror even when you are inside a dungeon. Nevertheless, you still need an Escape Talisman when recruiting Travis after liberating the Kingdom of Obel.

32) Using of Golden Hand Mirror in dungeons to return to the headquarters is first seen in Suikoden IV. Since, the previous games hinder the party from being teleported except when an Escape Talisman is used.

33) Suikoden IV is the first game in the series where there is no elf who uses a bow.

34) Did you know that only Lazlo can use the Rush attack? Even if the battle party is changed it will never be available to other playable characters.

35) If Nabokov is currently the Support character in the party, a woman will take over his job at his Appraisal Shop. A short conversation between them will take place if you tried to appraise something.

36) Suikoden IV is the first game in the series where there is not a single Star of Destiny died in the course of war. Some fans, however, speculated that Elenor Silverberg probably died at Fort El-Eal. This is due to the fact that she is not present in the founding of Island Nations Federation.

37) The Nay Kobolds used take a nap every time they unleash their combo attack. This funny scene is most likely a satirical representation of 'catnap'.

38) In the confession room, Keen has a totally different question given to Helga and Rita than anybody else. Instead of asking of what they think of Lazlo, he will ask of what they think of their ownselves.

39) Nay-Kobolds are generally not fond of taking bath, yet their is a hot spring bathhouse in Nay-Kobold Settlement.
