Suikoden Tactics Fun Facts

1) Suikoden Tactics is the very first Suikoden title to adopt the strategy RPG genre.

2) Suikoden Tactics is simply called as Rhapsodia in Japanese version. This is the first game in the series that did not retain the word "Suikoden" in the title.

3) Junko Kawano is the writer and character designer of Suikoden Tactics. She was one of the original members who developed the Suikoden series and the artist behind the character designs of Suikoden I and Suikoden IV.

4) The official soundtrack of Suikoden Tactics was composed and arranged by Norikazu Miora. He was later commissioned to compose the Suikoden V official soundtrack too.

5) The Double Leader Attack is the cooperative attack performed by several main protagonists. It was first used by Tir McDohl and Riou in Suikoden II and was followed by Kyril and Lazlo in Suikoden Tactics. This is also seen in Suikoden Tierkreis, which is just a spin-off title of the original series. The only difference is that Atrie, who is one of the character in the duo, is not a main protagonist of any Suikoden game.

6) Suikoden Tactics' story started from the years prior to the events of Suikoden IV. After the prologue, the timeline will eventually propel to the future. This is about 3 years after the Island Liberation War ended.

7) Walter and his entourage are from the Scarlet Moon Empire. It is a land just north of the Island Nations Federation and the setting of the events in Suikoden I.

8) After the fall of the Scarlet Moon Empire from the Liberation Army, it was renamed as Toran Republic with Lepant as its first president. This event will take place about 147 years after the events in Suikoden Tactics and three years prior to Suikoden II.

9) The Swallow Rune is a unique rune that can deal tremendous critical damage on opponents. It is an established fact that only exceptional swordsmen are known to possessed such rune. These are Kyril from Suikoden Tactics, Genshu from Suikoden II and Richard from Suikoden V.

10) The Family Attack is a decent offensive formation performed by both Lino and Flare. This cooperative attack has been consistently used in most Suikoden titles except in Suikoden III and some spin-offs.

11) It is interesting to note that some of the duo cooperative attacks are named after the five basic powers of the elemental True Runes. These are the Ice Crush Attack, Flame Array, Thunder God, Scorched Earth, Fierce Wind Fang and Water Dragon.

12) Kyril has the most powerful cooperative attacks in Suikoden Tactics. His Ice Crush Attack with Corselia deals the most devastating area of effect damage, while his Double Leader Attack with Lazlo is the strongest against a single enemy.

13) In Suikoden Tactics manual, the Gozz Rune was mistakenly translated as the Minotaur Rune.

14) The Falcon Rune embedded on Kika's left hand is a special skill rune unique to her. All those who possessed such rune in Suikoden series were known for their exceptional skills in swordplay.

15) The Shrike Rune is a special skill rune used by female ninjas in Suikoden series. This is permanently embedded on Mizuki's left hand even in the days of the Island Liberation War in Suikoden IV.
