4) Another sequel called the "Final Fantasy IV: Interlude" was released in 2011 for Playstation Portable (PSP). The game takes place between the events in the original game to Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. Thus, it fills up the gap in the timeline of the two previous titles.

6) Cecil Harvey, the main protagonist of the game is initially called as the "Dark Knight." Did you know that the title Dark Knight is a famous monicker given to the DC Universe's hero, the Batman?

7) After defeating the first of the Archfiends, Cecil Harvey, finally gained the special Job called the "Paladin." The word Paladin is a reference to the best warriors in Charlemagne's court as mentioned in the French literary work The Song of Roland.

8) Did you know that the names of the Four Elemental Archfiends are references from Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy? Scarmiglione, Cagnazzo, Barbariccia and Rubicante are just four of the twelve Malebranche (Evil Claws) who guarded the Bolgia Five of the Eighth Circle in Inferno.

9) Rubicante's name in Dante's Divine Comedy is literally translated as the "Red-faced Terror".

10) Rubicante also appeared in Final Fantasy Type - 0 as one of several models of the Fire Eidelon, Ifrit.

11) Although Cagnazzo is a Water Elemental fiend with a turtle-like shell on its back in the game, yet he is portrayed differently in Dante's Divine Comedy. His name is literally translated as "Nasty Dog".

12) It is interesting to note that Barbariccia is consistently depicted as a beautiful and seductive lady in Final Fantasy games although her name is literally translated as "Curly Beard" in the Divine Comedy. Obviously, this fact openly suggests that the demon is actually a male in Dante Alighieri's literary works.

13) Scarmiglione's name is literally translated as "Trouble Maker" in Dante's Divine Comedy. His long name is obviously hard to remember, thus many fans prefer to call him "Milon". The latter is actually just another name given to him in Final Fantasy canon.

14) Among the Four Elemental Archfiends, Scarmiglione is the only one whom Cecil Harvey fought while he's still a Dark Knight.

15) The Tower of Babil is a reference to the Biblical account mentioned in the book of Genesis. Several years after the Great Flood, the descendants of Noah tried to build a tower that would reach the heavens. God was provoked to anger by their haughty plans, thus he caused confusion among the people by giving them different languages. Eventually, they began to separate and regroup according to their own common tongues.

16) Babil is a disambiguation of the word "babel", which means "confusion." This refers to how God confused the ancient people by giving them different languages.
