Final Fanstasy III Fun Facts

1) The Nintendo DS release of Final Fanstasy III is a remake of the 1990 classic game from Super Famicom.

2) Prior to its release in 2006, Final Fantasy III is considered as the only game in the series that was never released outside Japan.

3) It was in Final Fantasy III when the Job System was introduced. It became so famous that it was retained in most Final Fantasy games.

4) The crystals has been a center of the plot of Final Fantasy III. They are already present in most Final Fantasy games since Final Fantasy I.

5) The creature Bahamut is a reference to a mysterious Biblical creature mentioned in the King James Version of the book of Job. Theologians and scholars have different interpretation of this creature's real identity. Some say it is an elephant, a hippopotamus or a rhinoceros. Others, however, go beyond than the popular beliefs by claiming that the textual passage is a reference to a dinosaur or perhaps a dragon.

6) Noah is a Magus whose fame in magic is known in the whole world. The name is probably a reference to a Biblical character who bears the same name.

7) In the Bible, Noah is a man of God who survived the Great Flood by building an ark. This part of the story has a striking similarity in Final Fantasy III, wherein the Flood of Light and Flood of Darkness are mentioned due to the failure of Water Crystal to function perfectly.

8) Master Doga is one of the three Magus who studied under Noah. An item called the "Doga's Artifact" in Final Fantasy IX is probably named after to pay homage to him.

9) Did you know that summoning of creatures in Final Fantasy series was first seen in Final Fantasy III? The creatures like Bahamut, Odin and Ramuh still made several appearances in its succeeding games.

10) Another Summon that is probably a reference to a Biblical creature is Leviathan. It is believed to be a huge sea creature and often interpreted as a whale. Some speculations has it that the big fish that swallowed the prophet Jonah for three days is probably Leviathan.

11) The first two titles in Final Fantasy series has no battle commands other than Magic. It is in Final Fantasy III when non-magic abilities such as Steal, Provoke, Jump and Throw are introduced.

12) Delilah is probably a Biblical reference to a woman mentioned in the book of Judges. She is a beautiful Philistine woman who betrayed her Israelite lover Samson to his enemies. Her treachery eventually led to his downfall and incineration.
