Suikoden V Fun FAQs

1) How many characters can you recruited in Suikoden V?

Answer: There are about 113 characters that can be recruited in the game.

2) Are there non-Star characters in the game?

Answer: Yes, there are characters in the game who are not part of the 108 Stars of Destiny. The fact that there are 113 characters that you can recruit openly suggests that there are 5 non-Stars among them.

3) Who are these non-Star characters in Suikoden V?

Answer: They are the 5 DoReMi elves that Cornelio will collect to set up his dream orchestra, namely: ReMiFa, FaSoLa, MiFaSo, LaTiDo and SoLaTi.

4) Do DoReMi elves always come in five?

Answer: No. Previous titles in the series such as Suikoden II and Suikoden III usually features DoReMi elves in three or six member groups. The fact that Cornelio plays a vital role in their orchestra may have been the reason why the game only featured five of them instead of six.

Furthermore, a group of five has always been featured in the series such as the 5 blacksmiths in Suikoden I, the 5 squirrels in Suikoden 2, the 5 basket dogs in Suikoden III and the 5 Gaien Knights under Snowe in Suikoden IV.

5) Who could be the gladiator mentioned by Shoon who was blinded because of his incredible skills in combat?

Answer: Shoon is probably referring to Morgan in Suikoden I. Not much is known about him aside from the fact that he is a blind martial artist, a former gladiator from the Queendom of Falena and a member of the Liberation Army during Toran Liberation War.

Suikoden V

6) Is Morgan really that guy whom Shoon referred to as an exceptional but blind gladiator?

Answer: He is most likely Morgan. Aside from the fact that he is a gladiator and blind, he was also mentioned as younger than Shoon. During the Sun Rune War, Shoon is about 15 years old while Morgan is about 20 years old during the Toran Liberation War. There is about a 7 year gap between the two aforementioned events. Thus, Morgan is still 13 years old when Falena is engulfed in war, which makes him 2 years younger than Shoon.

Furthermore, Shoon mentioned that the blind gladiator was sent to unknown lands. This part of the story also coincides with Morgan's history. From the Queendom of Falena, he was intended to be sold in the Island Nations Federation but they suffered shipwreck along the way. Luckily, he survived the plight and was awashed on the shore near Qlon Temple in the Scarlet Moon Empire. Since then, he stayed in the temple before the Toran Liberation War broke out.

7) The name Roundier Haia was briefly mentioned in Suikoden V. Who is he, anyway?

Answer: Roundier Haia is a master swordsman from the land of Kanakan. His exceptional skill with the sword earned him fame throughout the lands. The gladiator Belcoot is just one of his students.

8) Are there more students of Roundier Haia who are featured in Suikoden series?

Answer: Yes. The swordmistress Valeria from Suikiden I and Suikoden II is one of Roundier Haia's notable students. Her friend and rival, Anita, from Suikoden II also trained under him.

9) Why is it only Belcoot has the Falcon Rune? Where can I find another one of it?

Answer: The Falcon Rune is a unique orb that can only be used by master swordsmen like Belcoot. It was given to him by his teacher in swordsmanhip, Roundier Haia, as a recognition to his skills after graduating from his tutelage. Both Valeria and Anita possessed the same rune, too.

10) Where is Kanakan located?

Answer: Kanakan is located to the far north of the Queendom of Falena, which is much farther than the Island Nations Federation. It's closest border is the Scarlet Moon Empire, which is a little north of Kanakan. The land is known for its top-notch wine named after it.

11) Where was Georg Prime before Ferid found him?

Answer: Georg was involved in the Succession War that ignited in the Scarlet Moon Empire to the north. He once served as one of the Six Great Generals under Emperor Barbarossa Rugner. He forsook his position just to honor his old friend's request to come to Falena.

12) Why I can't recruit the DoReMi elves?

Answer: If you are unable to recruit a DoReMi elf then you must be missing some requirements. Basically there are four things you need to remember when recruiting them. First, you must be in the right location where they supposedly appear. Second, Cornelio must be on the current fighting party and not just in the entourage. Third, you must use his Fugue spell from DoReMi Rune. Lastly, you must have an empty slot in your current battle party or in the entourage. The last one is often the most neglected requirement why people can't recruit them.

Answer: After recruiting Snowe in your party, which you can only do in later part of the game, go to Shiramine and cast a net on one of these places: Illuya Island, Razril and Pirate Nest's Sea. All Suikoden protagonists lost someone dear to them such as a mentor, best friend or family members.
